Yearning for a quick getaway from Singapore, I decided to visit Ho Chi Minh city after much persuasion from my friends who are now based there. This trip has far exceeded my expectations of what this vibrant city has to offer, with its up and coming bar and restaurant scene. Here are some of our favourite picks.
Stay | Bay Hotel
We stayed at Bay Hotel Ho Chi Minh which is situated near the Japanese town in Ho Chi Minh City, giving us easy accessibility to some of our favourite haunts.
As we entered The Suite room, we were welcomed by a unique and spacious round bed. Being a light sleeper, I had surprisingly good sleep during my stay at Bay Hotel, thanks to the comfy bed.
The Suite room also came with a complimentary mini bar, which was well stocked with snacks and beverages including wine and beer. Perfect for those late night hunger pangs.
We loved the L’occitane range of toiletries that smelt heavenly, as well as the Peppermint Sea Salt and scrub which came in handy for a relaxing and warm bath after a long day of exploration.
Here’s the beautiful view from the Suite room on a good day, where you can catch a glimpse of the Saigon river. Do note that in reality, there is some ongoing construction going on across the hotel so the view on the right side may not be as pretty.

Eat | Pizza 4P’s
We went to Pizza 4P’s with great anticipation due to a few raving recommendations from our friends and it sure lived up to our expectations. Trying its 4 cheeses pizza for the first time, we immediately fell head over heels for it. Loved the combination of cheese melting in our mouth as well as the soft and chewy crust. Remember to enjoy it with honey that comes on the side. We loved the pizza so much that we came back for a second round during our last day, this time ordering a half-half pizza so that we can try a new flavour – Margarita.

Drink | Layla – Eatery & Bar
This hole-in-the-wall bar is possibly my favourite hidden gem during this trip. Before you turn away from the dark and seemingly dubious stairway, it leads you to this hip and industrial looking bar – Layla.
The drinks were reasonably priced for Instagram-worthy and delish cocktails. Visit the bar during Happy Hours so that you get the most out of your bucks.

Massage | Miu Miu Spa
If you are looking for a relaxing massage, Miu Miu Spa is a short 5-minute walk from Bay Hotel. I’m usually quite picky when it comes to choosing a massage parlour as cleanliness and ambience are both important factors to me, and Miu Miu Spa definitely checked both boxes at a reasonable price. I opted for the 60-minute aromatherapy massage which covered from head to toe. It was so soothing that I wished it didn’t end.
Do remember to make reservation in advance as the 4 outlets (which are all within walking distance) are usually fully booked over the weekends.

We will be back soon to indulge in more food, more cocktails and more coffee. Till then Ho Chi Minh city!
