Don Ho has been around for quite some time but they were only serving dinner and after hour drinks. Located a short walk from Outram MRT, Don Ho rides on the brunch trend with their recently launched weekend brunch menu.
Weekend brunch hours are from 10am-4pm. Did I mention that you will have the best of three worlds the moment you enter this tropical paradise? They have such beautiful interior that is so aesthetically pleasing, great variety of food to satisfy your grouchy morning hunger pangs, and such genuine hospitality- like greeting you the moment you enter, recommending their best dishes and even the simplest gesture of making sure that your cup of water is always filled. It’s always the little things that make a great difference, don’t they?
We had the Hot Smoked Salmon ($20), a medium cooked salmon, nicely pink on the outside with tender layers that easily falls apart with a slice of the fork and the insides still soft and slightly rare. The perfect salmon is served alongside little potato bites and a soft poached egg. A pretty dish bursting with flavours.
Next, we had The Don Ho ($18). Based on the description given on the menu, we were expecting a breakfast platter. Little did we know that it was actually a burger packed with fresh ingredients- fried egg, maple bacon, grilled pineapple and pickled slaw. It was a great burger but I thought they could have gone easy on the ranch dressing. We had to scrape off the excess dressing to be able to get a good taste of the burger. Otherwise, it was a good burger with quality ingredients sandwiched between homemade buns.
What’s brunch without good coffee? To go with our scrumptious brunch, we had the Cappuccino($5) and Flat White($5) by Sarnies Coffee. The coffee beans are roasted daily in-house and they do live up to their name of being one of the best coffee in town. Just one cup and you are charged for the day.
