Heritage Festival 2017 @ Singapore Botanic Gardens – Check out these 7 Eats in This Tropical Garden

In conjunction with the Singapore Botanic Gardens Heritage Festival held from 30 June – 9 July 2017, every single F&B outlet within the Gardens has released their very own Heritage-themed menu and dishes.

If you are intending to check out the special heritage tours and workshops held during this 10-day event, here is the entire range of food options you should definitely not miss!

1. Food For Thought

Check out the Nasi Lemak Risotto ($18), a modern twist to the classic Nasi Lemak that all Singaporeans love. This photogenic dish is served with ikan bilis, chicken cutlet and even with a poached egg. But the clear winning element here is definitely their sambal!

2. The Halia

Halia (meaning ginger in Malay) is renowned for its contemporary Asian-Inspired European cuisine, and the ginger element is present in many of its signature dishes and drinks.

The Lemongrass and Ginger Prawn Salad ($19) was an especially refreshing starter with its succulent prawns and sweet fresh mangoes.

A signature dish of the restaurant for 12 years and counting, Halia’s Chilli Crab Spaghettini($30++ per set) has won the hearts of both locals and tourists alike! Its x-factor lies in its spicy, sweet and tangy sauce, appealing to both spicy and non-spicy eaters!

Also check out their chilled Lemongrass & Ginger Infusion Drink ($30++ per set with the chilli crab spaghetti), which nicely incorporates the ginger theme within a drink. While it may be too strong for some, it is definitely still worth the try!

The Gardens Shop sells an amazing selection of tea packs and cold brews. The Orchid Tea (Longan Tea) Cold Brew infuses Ceylon black and green tea blends with longan and rambutan, creating a fruity undertone. Definitely a refreshing drink for a hot day!

4. Casa Verde

Casa Verde releases Heritage specials – Beef Rendang Pizza ($25 nett) and Heritage Set ($19.50 nett). The pizza was a hot favourite with its tender beef slow-cooked in a rich lemongrass and coconut sauce. The Seafood Char Kway Teow, one of the choices for the heritage set is a typical Singapore favourite that will warm your heart. It also comes with a drink and Iced Jelly with Aloe Vera!

5. Corner House

This is Chef Jason Tan’s personal interpretation of the Kaya Toast, a deconstructed version which many of us enjoyed.

The Chicken Rice is also a unique concept well-plated for the eyes and the palate. Consisting of tender Kampong chicken, arquerello riso, cucumber and black truffle, this was a curious and unique experience one should check out at this restaurant.

7. The Garage & Botanico

The Garage was once used to house the cars of college professors, but it is now converted into a multi-concept F&B destination. Botanico on the second-floor offers a seasonality-driven menu that curates dishes according to the freshest ingredients in that period.

Botanico offers an indoor dining area as well as an alfresco air-conditioned area where you can enjoy nature in temperate conditions! The interior is amazing and if you’re lucky enough to reach there early, certainly a place worthy of a photoshoot.

Famous for their Tropical Fruits ($12++), this dessert pays tribute to The Garage’s historic location where the very same ingredients were once cultivated. They are Laksa Leaf Ice cream, Tumeric Ganache, Palm Fruit and Jackfruit.
