Flying Monkey @ Bugis – Go Bananas with Contemporary Indian Cuisine and Cocktails!

Located in the heart of the Kampong Glam district, Flying Monkey is a much-welcomed addition to the restaurant scene. Not only does it serve authentic contemporary North Indian cuisine (some say bring back memories of their hometown India), it boasts a bar helmed by famous bartender Kannan!

The restaurant offers a casual, comfortable and modern setting which puts us at ease while we await the tapas and mains.

The full-fledged bar allows you to witness the bartender in action, a feast for the eyes!

The signature Tandoori Chicken ($10) tapas is marinated overnight with the chef’s personal blend of masala and yogurt. It was definitely a greater starter and made us excited for more!

As if plain naan wasn’t good enough, this truffle naan ($14) infused with a tinge of truffle made it one of the crowd favourites that night! You can also dip your naan in the paneer mousse and/or pear chutney, giving this dish an interesting twist.

The Calamari 65 ($10) is lightly battered and fried to perfection, making it yet another wonderful appetiser.

The nalli gosht ($26) is lamb shank cooked overnight and served with garlic naan. Its creative presentation creates anticipation for its taste, but unfortunately it might be too strong or sweet for some.

Also try their delectable ice cream, which is dense, 100% home-made and au-naturel!

This simple looking fried okra ($8) is definitely not one to be overlooked. Fuss-free and addictive, it is perfect as a casual snack!

Last but not least, you definitely can’t miss trying The Flying Monkey ($20). It will not just be a feast for your tastebuds but also your eyes, as you watch head bartender Kannan entertain with a “fire show”.

Their creative dish interpretations and presentations make one want to revisit it again and again. Although they specialise in tapas, do give their big plates a try if you are looking for something more.
