From the folks that brought you Pacamara, Botanist is a cafe nestled at the side alley of Neil Road, which is currently one of my favourite go to cafes for brunch. With limited indoor seating, diners have to brave the Singapore heat and dine in their courtyard. Don’t be put off though, you’ll fall in love with the ambiance, food and coffee.
Apart from the heat, the coffee and food served here are noms!
No cafe is complete without coffee. As they’re related to the Pacamara folks, you’d expect the coffee to be of a certain quality, and the mocha I had didn’t disappoint.
A fan of beef? This slow cooked beef cheek ($24) tears apart easily as you fork it. Expect a thicker texture of mash.
Feels for eggs? Botanist has it solved with their Baked Eggs ($19) filled with chorizo iberico, tomato relish, bacon, baby spinach and the egg. Served in a baked bowl (careful its utterly hot!!), mix it well, add that chunk of butter for extra flavours and dip the bread in.
Among the savory dishes though, this has got to be my favorite – the unpretentious Croque Madame ($18). Man does it pack so much flavours in every bite. Soft toasted brioche, ham, gruyere cheese and topped of with a fried egg. Simple I always say, but you wouldn’t be able to do this at home.
Thinking of desserts? They have it covered with their limited dessert offerings – Maple Pancake ($18). You spot BACON, but otherwise its a very dessert-ish dish. Not the best you can find but if you feel like having something sweet, Botanist got you covered here.
With mains and desserts, The Botanist is the to-go for an all-encompassing garden dining experience!
